Commem 50c 1935-S San Diego XF Clean Silver Coin WDEE-03

Commem 50c 1935-S San Diego XF Clean Silver Coin WDEE-03

$70.00

Here is the 1935-S San Diego Commemorative Half Dollar. We grade this coin as Extra Fine details, cleaned. Issued in 1935 to fund the Exposition to be held in San Diego in 1935 and 1936. This was held primarily to promote the excellent living conditions in San Diego, California. No historical event was actually being commemorated with this coin. The obverse depicts the Roman goddess Minerva, with several elements from the California State Seal around her. The reverse shows the Chapel of St Francis (with the dome) and the California Tower, two of the featured buildings at this event that took place over 1400 acres, and end up costing $20 million. The mintage of this date/mint combo ended up being only about 63,000, with about 10,000 more minted in 1936, with that date. Light wear noted on the high-relief designs. No marks or spots noted. A pleasing and popular commemorative coin with a high collector value. Thanks for looking. We are grateful. WDEE-03
